A 50 mile race to compliment the Dartmoor 100 mile event. It is the final 50 miles of the Ultra Tour of Dartmoor and visits Dartmoor’s highest summits of Yes Tor and High Willhays.

The race begins in Scorriton in the south of the Moor and initially follows the Two Moors Way and Abbots Way across open moorland in a westerly direction. The route then turns north through wooded slopes alongside Burrator Reservoir and onward to Princetown at the centre of the Moor. Onwards to Peter Tavy amid dramatic Dartmoor landscapes of granite-strewn wild tors and moorland before heading north once more to traverse the western flanks, finally climbing to the highest points before the long steady descent to the finish in Okehampton.

The Dartmoor Granite 50, as it’s name suggests.. is tough. It’s just over 50 miles (53) and although just over half the distance of the 100, it’s a serious undertaking. The Granite 50 is not an easy race at all.. Its’s not a walk in the park. It’s a long run in the National Park..! It is the equivalent of running two marathons, over extremely rugged terrain in parts and with over 2500 metres of ascent. Experience of running trail marathons is a minimum requirement for this event.

Race Start time of 9am on Saturday 4th August from Scorriton in the south of the Moor. There is a maximum time allowance of 15 hours.
